Pro-Euthanasia Activists Teaching At Catholic Universities:  “Bishops Betrayed On Assisted Suicide” – Crisis Magazine

Terri Schiavo
Terri Schiavo
Crisis Magazine
  • “Suicide’s legalization has been advocated by prominent professors [including non-Catholics and ordained priests] in Catholic universities including Georgetown, Marquette, Santa Clara, and Boston College.”
  • The professors “have done more than betray the Catholic Church.”
  • The scandal over artificial nutrition and hydration:  liberal professors (including ordained priests) at Catholic universities claimed Pope John Paul II’s teachings, which sustain life, was the pope’s pandering to pro-lifers.

These two Crisis Mag. articles expose much, much more disturbing details of this scandal than I could have ever imagined.  Church Teachingartificial means of nutrition and hydration, food and water, are necessary for life and removing them is an act of euthanasia.  {Official Church teaching on nutrition and hydration.}

  • Baron co-taught his classes with Milton Heifetz who viewed newborns as having “potential” to being human — a Jewish belief.***
2.  A Cardinal Neuman Society Report, “Teaching Euthanasia.”  Crisis Mag. Online 2005.  “Professors from top Catholic universities helped convince the courts and the public that removing her [Terri Schiavo’s] feeding tube was acceptable and consistent with Catholic teaching — even while the Vatican said it was euthanasia.”   (Page 6 & 7 cover the scandal against Pope John Paul II’s teachings re nutrition and hydration, which was disputed by the liberal professors; they claim that the pope was “pandering to the right-to-lifers.”

The Death with Dignity Political Fund (the Fund) began in 1993 as Oregon Right to Die, a state political action committee, formed to help pass the Oregon Death with Dignity Act.  The Death with Dignity Act was tied up by legal challenges and a legislative repeal effort until the fall of 1997.  In late 2001, Oregon Right to Die changed its name and tax status to become what is now the Death with Dignity Political Fund. This effort was undertaken so the organization could more easily combine its political strengths with the Death with Dignity National Center. Together these organizations are positioned to lead the charge in the death with dignity movement.

Thanks to a Catholic university keeping Baron, a radical euthanasia activist, and others like him, we are in this battle.
